The first bell has rung, and recycling initiatives in schools across the Islands Regional Unit are back with the same enthusiasm with which they bid farewell to our young friends this past summer. The activities are part of the Attica Region’s THE GREEN CITY Program and are aimed at elementary schools in the Islands Regional Unit.
The series of events began with its first stop in Salamina, and the schedule so far is as follows:
- September 22, 2022 Aianteio Elementary School
- October 3, 2022 Ambelakia Elementary School
- 11/10/2022 5ο Salamina Elementary School
- 20/10/2022 3ο Salamina Elementary School
- 01/11/2022 1ο Salamina Elementary School
In the near future, plans for these activities are expected to be finalized for the remaining schools in the Islands Regional Unit as well.
The Deputy Regional Governor for the Islands, Ms. Vasiliki Theodorakopoulou-Bogri, emphasized the following:
«We are delighted that, for the second time, students, teachers, and parents have embraced this initiative by the Region of Attica, and so our young friends will continue their journey in the game of recycling by bringing recyclable materials to theschool grounds, placing them in the truck’s special bins, and learning to love the environment.
The Region of Attica, recognizing the need to foster environmental awareness—especially from the earliest stages of a person’s life—will remain committed to its program, aiming to ensure that recycling becomes and remainsfor people of all ages!»
