The idea of creating the medal that will be awarded every year belongs to President of the Federation of Greek Communities of Russia, Ivan Savvidis, who welcomed and actively participated in the event live. «I am convinced that this reception will indeed become a fine annual tradition in the new year, strengthening the friendship and cooperation between our countries, a way of even more effectively integrating the Greeks of Russia into world Hellenism and promoting Greek culture and traditions. The Ambassador said that for us it is a matter of pride that we have two homelands. We are indeed proud of this and we realize that it is also a double responsibility. And today we understand more than ever that the time has come for more active citizen diplomacy to achieve greater success in our transnational relations and dialogue,’ said Ivan Savvidis himself at the award ceremony.
The first of the awardees wasn our ambassador in Moscow, Katerina Nasika, who did not hide her emotion. Followed by chairman of the history faculty of Moscow University, Lomonosov Sergey Karpov, perhaps the world's greatest scholar of the Trabzon Empire.
