After almost two weeks of blockade and endless agony for the people of Kythera and Antikythera, the ship “Kefalonia” finally takes its departure position at the port of Piraeus!
The image of the ship preparing for departure brings breath of relief to those who were stranded without alternative transport, but also a a good dose of sarcasm for the now well-known «stability» of Greek ferry connections.
Relief, but also anger at the blockade
Lately, the islands have been left to their own devices, with the announcements of the itineraries being more reminiscent of lottery rather than scheduled transportation. Hundreds of passengers, professionals and suppliers saw their plans thwarted, while shortages of basic goods began to be felt on the islands.

Although the ship finally starts sailing when the jokes stop, the question remains: Is there a viable, credible plan to connect the islands or are we going to see the same theatre of absurdity every winter?;
One thing is for sure, the people of Kythera and Antikythera are not going to let the issue go away. “Kefalonia” can be whistle for departure, but the voices of protest they won't go silent so easily. Or at least the path of migration to other places is now a one-way street...
