With the statements of the general rapporteurs of the parties, the five-day debate on the State Budget for the fiscal year 2023 begins this afternoon in the plenary session of the Parliament, in the presence of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
The interest is expected to peak next Saturday, 17 December 2022, with the statements of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the leader of the opposition Al. Tsipras and the leaders of the parties.
The budget debate will end - at the latest - at midnight on Saturday. This will be followed immediately by a nominal open vote, which - traditionally - is regarded as a vote of confidence in the government.
The bill entitled «Ratification of the State Budget for the fiscal year 2023» has already been approved, by a majority, by the relevant committee of the House of Representatives. The deputies of the New Democracy party voted in favour of the draft law, while the deputies of SYRIZA-PS, PASOK-Movement for Change, KKE, Hellenic Solution and MP25 voted against it.
