«With his statement today, the Prime Minister has once again appeared to be blameless, adopting the narrative of a “legal error” to justify a criminal act and the direct violation of the constitutional provision on parliamentary secrecy. And he overtly sought to guide developments,» said PASOK-Charity Movement president Nikos Androulakis.
«It was obvious the anxiety of Mr Mitsotakis to find the former commander of the National Security Service in immunity, while he attributed the objective political responsibility to the General Secretary of the Prime Minister, Grigoris Dimitriadis, downgrading it to the level of negligence» notes N. Androulakis and adds: «Since no shadows are allowed in the Republic, which shadow did you illuminate, Mr Mitsotakis? The shadow of the Predator that you did not even mention?».
«The Prime Minister has methodically avoided explaining the parastatal arm that was set up. The Predator spy “super weapon” attempted to tap my mobile phone while I had been placed under surveillance by the NSA a few days before. And if it were not for the official report of the European Parliament's special service, we would have learned nothing about these shady practices. The fairy tales without a Chinese dragon about the involvement of Armenia and Ukraine in my surveillance were answered by their embassies in the most official and humiliating way for you,» says N. Androulakis and stresses in his statement:
«Mr Mitsotakis, I ask you to immediately announce the reason for my surveillance by the NSA, which you have the audacity to characterize as legitimate in violation of the confidentiality of my communications as a Member of the European Parliament and candidate for President of PASOK-Movement for Change. I will not accept any cover-up. I will not allow Mr Mitsotakis to trivialise a case that is central to the separation of powers in our country.
It is not a personal issue, as I have said many times. It is a question of democracy. It is the concern of every citizen to live and raise their children in an environment of justice and full respect for human rights. I will continue to fight so that Justice, the Greek Parliament and the European institutions bring the whole truth to light.
The Prime Minister today tried to buy time. But time is now counting down for him. Soon he will be confronted with the truth. I call on every Greek, every Greek, every democrat, to defend the proper functioning of the constitution against those who have made constitutional freedoms a rag paper by exposing our country internationally.».
