The initiators of the “Novartis collusion” case were so sure that it would reach trial that they even made a technical improvement to the relevant article, so that there is no doubt about the possibility of supporting the accusation in the Special Court. Put in your mind the picture they were imagining...
Today, this narrative has collapsed with a bang. Supreme Court judges investigating the case, in which, it should be noted, Eugene E. Venizelos, under examination and in a memo, ruled - under a government regime completely hostile to SYRIZA and with D. Papaggelopoulos as the accused - that there was no collusion: the investigation of the existing Novartis scandal was conducted in accordance with the law. The referral of Papaggelopoulos and Touloupakis to the Special Court took place for other acts (regional ones in relation to the infamous “Novartis collusion”), while even the described offence in relation to prosecutor Raikou concerns a stage of the Novartis case prior to the investigation of the responsibilities of the 10 political persons.
When you have made such lofty statements in the past (such as that of “high treason” (!) by the former Prime Minister and members of the Cabinet), you run a deadly risk - if you do not take a position on the outcome of the case - of ridicule.
This danger has been made fun of by the unsurpassed Lambros Constantaras, playing the role of Harry Zavalos in the old Greek film “The Villa of the Furies”. Trying to get the incriminating booklet that revealed his moral compass and that of the whole “good society”, the businessman and ambitious politician Zavalos described to the holder of the booklet (a poor devil named Violeta) the ultimate stakes of the case against him:
“That damn checkbook is bomb proof. It can shatter the foundations of society. You have historical responsibilities. You're about to be the cause of a world disaster. If we fall, society falls. So the Balkans will sink with it. And if the Balkans go down, Europe goes down. And if Europe sinks, so does Asia, so does America, so does the whole globe....”

That is why the continuation of voicelessness increases the risk of ridicule.
