The international tender of the Civil Aviation Authority for the lean air routes, which includes the connection Thessaloniki - Kalamata - Kythera, has been extended until 5 October, with the aim to start in February and for 4 years.
The deadline for the tender was Sunday 25 September, but the Civil Aviation Authority decided to extend the deadline for submission of tenders until Wednesday 5 October (17.00) and the date for the opening of tenders to Wednesday 12 October at 12.00.
3- 6 routes per week
The competition is international, so it is «open» to any EU carrier.
As regards the route Thessaloniki - Kalamata - Kythera, according to the tender, the annual amount allocated for the subsidy for the line is EUR 700 000, and for the whole 4 years it amounts to EUR 2 800 000.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority's notice, this route should be operated with 3 return flights per week, with a total of 150 seats offered per week in each direction during the low season.
Four return flights a week and a total of 200 seats offered per week in each direction in the middle season and six return flights a week and a total of 300 seats offered per week in each direction in the high summer season.
The prices
The notice also sets the maximum fare rates per period. In particular, the following prices are provided for:
-Thessaloniki - Kalamata 80,75 euro (maximum low season fare), 85 euro (maximum middle season fare), 110 euro (maximum high summer season fare)
-Thessaloniki - Kythera 90,25 euro (maximum low season fare), 95 euro (maximum middle season fare), 121 euro (maximum high summer season fare)
-Kalamata -Kithira 33,25 euro (maximum low season fare), 35 euro (maximum middle season fare) 49,5 euro (maximum high summer season fare).
