Not paid single payment In 2022, those who farmers have unresolved issues with the land registry.
As reported by the Martino Agricultural, Olive-Growing, and Livestock Cooperative in the areas of Martino, Malesina, and Larymna in the prefecture of Fthiotida, 70% of the land that had been properly declared to the Integrated Administration and Control System (IACS) in previous years and for which payments were made without issue has been deemed ineligible, resulting in a loss of funds for producers.
In fact, according to Ms. Spyridoula Dimaki of the Cooperative, this will apply to areas where the land registry has been definitively closed and the land has been transferred to the state—either because the farmers’ appeals have not yet been adjudicated, or because the producers did not file appeals regarding the forested areas. According to her, the ineligibility of these plots is already apparent in the system, starting with the cross-check conducted by OPEKEPE on August 12.
In addition to the loss of the single payment, she adds, there are producers who risk losing money from improvement projects or the young farmers’ program as well, since it appears they no longer own the land.
The positive aspect of the whole situation, according to the Cooperative’s representatives, is that the Ministry of the Environment has launched an initiative to allow farmers to purchase these plots of land.
