Information and funding opportunities through the new local LEADER programme of the Attica Islands Network of the Attica Islands Network

The online information meetings organised by the Greek National Commission for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms Cooperation Network of Municipalities of the Regional Unit of the Attica Islands on 18 and 19 February 2026. The subject of the meetings was the detailed presentation of the 1st Call for Public Interventions the local LEADER programme (SA CAP), which opens new funding avenues for municipalities and collective bodies in the region (Salamina, Aegina, Agistri, Poros, Troizinia-Methana, Hydra, Spetses, Kythera and Antikythera).

The new LEADER programme (2023-2027) for the region has been approved with a total budget of EUR 4 450 000. The current call for public works and collective interventions will remain open for proposals until 4 May 2026.

The meetings were divided into two thematic days, tailored to the target audience:

Day 1 (18/02/2026): focus on Collective Bodies The first meeting was addressed to local associations (cultural, environmental, sports, agricultural, etc.). With the participation of dozens of representatives, the Network's executives (Christina Kalatha, Katerina Fotaki, Eleni Genikaliotis) presented the axes of the programme. As explained, clubs can receive funding up to 100% for infrastructure projects, purchase of equipment, supply of musical instruments or traditional costumes (up to 400,000 euros per project). The only exception is cultural events, where the maximum amount is EUR 20,000 with a grant rate of 75%. Emphasis was placed on how associations must keep the necessary documents, have a contracting regulation and organise their dossier properly.

Day 2 (19/02/2026): Briefing of Municipalities and Consultants/Specialists The second meeting focused on technical issues, mainly addressed to the technical services of the municipalities, but also to private consultants - consultants who undertake the preparation of the files. The submission procedure through the Integrated Information System (IIS), the eligibility and scoring criteria, as well as the new system of the «Simplified Cost» for building works, which offers a quick and objective way of calculating eligible costs per square metre, drastically reducing bureaucracy.
