Journalist Giorgos Papadakis has died – Sadness in the world of journalism

The well-known journalist and presenter passed away at the age of 75 George Papadakis, following an acute myocardial infarction suffered on the afternoon of Sunday 4 January 2026.

According to the information, the journalist was in Kolonaki when he felt strongly unwell. The ambulance was immediately called, which transported him to the Laiko Hospital at 17:40. Despite the efforts of the doctors and the application of CPR, George Papadakis ended up, as he was transferred unconscious.

George Papadakis was born on 4 February 1951 in Halandri, Crete, and had a long and decisive career in journalism, both in the printed press and on television. He was a pioneer of morning news, with a long-standing presence in the show «Kalimera Ellada», which he presented for decades and which he bid farewell to in July 2025 in a very moving atmosphere.

The news of his death caused deep sadness to the journalistic world and the general public, who identified him with the morning news on Greek television.
