The Ionian Confederation expresses its sincere condolences on the loss of the great scientist, author, Professor Emeritus of Constitutional Law of the University of Athens Law School, George I. Casimatis who was born in 1932 in Kythera to farmer parents and studied at the University of Athens with postgraduate studies in Bern and Munich. He was also President of the Ionian University (1985-1990).
Ο George I. Casimatis from his career as a public official, he was distinguished for his multifaceted activity in the public and social life of the country, was an active participant in the draft revisions of the Constitution in 1975 and 1986 and was a member of numerous legislative and other scientific committees in all sectors of the state. His critical discourse was oriented towards the value of man, social interest and democracy as a deep knowledge of political science, the functions of the constitution, the state and its governance.
The Board of the Ionian Confederation at its meeting on 7/10/2025 unanimously decided to send the present resolution to his relatives and the public and to have the Deputy Secretary Mr. John Sotirchos attend the funeral service to be held in Kythera.
