U.S. President Joe Biden stated today that sanctions against Iran will not be lifted as long as the Islamic Republic does not honor its commitments regarding its nuclear program, in an interview to be broadcast later today.
When asked by the CBS television network about the possibility of lifting sanctions to persuade Tehran to return to the negotiating table in order to save the Iranian nuclearprogram, John Biden replied unequivocally, “No,” according to an excerpt from the interview, which was recorded on Friday and will be broadcast in its entirety on Sunday.
When a reporter asked him whether the Iranians should “first stop enriching uranium,” the U.S. president responded with a nod of his head. It was unclear what he meant, as Iran is permitted to enrich uranium within certain limits under the international agreement signed in Vienna in 2015.

U.S. President Joe Biden warned today that the rivalry between the United States and China is likely to take the form of “extreme competition,” while assuring that he wants to avoid a “conflict” between the world’s two leading powers, in an interview to be broadcast later today.
The U.S. president explained during the interview—which was recorded on Friday and will be broadcast in its entirety on Sunday— that he has not yet spoken with Chinese President Xi Jinping, clarifying, however, that his counterpart “had no reason not to call him.”.
“It’s very harsh. He doesn’t have—and I’m not saying this as a criticism, it’s simply the reality—he doesn’t have a shred of democracy in him,” added John Biden, according to excerpts broadcast by the CBS television network.
