An unprecedented incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday 16 March 2025, when an unidentified man stole banners which was posted outside the Kytheria Spiritual Centre in Alimos, which expressed the residents' opposition to its demolition.

According to the announcement Cultural and Recreational Association of the Kytheria Area of Alimos “Myrtidiotissa”, on 01:20 in the morning, a car brand Renault stopped at Kytheria Avenue. The driver got off, cut the ropes of the banner that was on the sidewalk and the loaded in the trunk, before he disappeared.

The banner was posted by residents' committee, who have expressed massively against the demolition plans of the Cultural Centre and the construction of apartment buildings in its place. The Association describes this act as challenge to the local community and points out that the attempted gagging of the inhabitants will not stop their struggle.

The Board of Directors of the Association condemned the incident, stressing that the Kythira Cultural Center is piece of cultural heritage of the area and that its demolition violates the will of the Supplier of the Kytheria Building Cooperative.
