At least concern about the management of pandemic by the Greek government and personally the Kyriakos Mitsotakis, are provoked by the official statements of the President of the World Medical Association, Frank Ulrich Montgomery, on the contagiousness of coronavirus in Public transport and its opposition to the night-time curfew.
«I don't find anything interesting in the evening curfew because I don't know what it (can) offer, given that the chances of contamination outdoors are much lower than indoors», Mr. Montgomery told the n-tv network.
The German president of the World Medical Association went on to say that «restaurants, bars and cinemas are closed anyway - what is the point of a curfew? There are few people out at night anyway. ΟInfections do not occur mainly in the afternoon and evening, but during the day, on buses, trains and at work».
He stressed that it is right «to establish by law the obligation of teleworking wherever possible. Not only to avoid workplace infections, but also because fewer people will use public transport».
What was Kyriakos Mitsotakis saying during the deadly second wave?;
On 12 November, while the second wave of the pandemic was sweeping the country, with the number of deaths increasing rapidly, the Greek Prime Minister, in a speech in Parliament, instead of apologising for the 8 months of government inaction and the unprecedented overcrowding on public transport, attempted to make the situation black and white.
He even cited «numerous studies» to try to convince that public transport does not play such a big role in spreading the virus. «Only 1.2% of clusters are linked to public transport according to a study in France», Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated confidently.
