After the end of the mass demonstration for the educational gaps in the schools of Kythera, the councillor Anargyros Sofios, representing the faction «Free Kythira», made a statement of support to the camera of the local radio station AdelinFM. Mr. Sophios expressed the solidarity to the educational and student community, stressing that the problem of teacher shortages is chronic and continues to remain unsolved, despite the many appeals to the State.
In his statement, he stressed that the responsibility for the situation does not lie with the residents of the island, the High School or the Lyceum, but with the State itself, which has failed to meet basic educational needs.
In his support for those who are mobilizing, Mr.Sophios stressed the importance of continued pressure to ensure students' right to quality education, stating that he is ready to contribute to their struggle for a just and self-evident demand.
