With carnival celebrations and musical events, the «Koulouma» festival takes place in the municipalities of Attica.

Most municipalities of Attica are keeping the tradition today with the celebration of Easter Monday with Lenten dishes, music and dancing.

A series of events are underway. The cauldrons and ovens in the municipal offices are working at full capacity and are preparing everything from bean soup and seafood, to dolmades, taramosalata, halva and of course the traditional lagana. The open-air «table» set up by the municipalities, inside and outside the basin, will be waiting for the citizens to enjoy the day and for the children to fly their kites high. Some municipalities will offer the kite free of charge to young citizens, while others have organised kite-making workshops.

The traditional focus for Athenians on this day is the hill of Filopappou, which will be visited by the mayor Haris Doukas.

The municipality of Peristeri promises the largest lagana, as the Bakery Guild prepares a lagana with dimensions of 3 meters wide and 4 meters long! As they announced, the recipe will use 200 kilos of four varieties of flour, 50 kilos of assorted sesame seeds, 20 liters of sesame oil, 15 kilos of tahini, salt, sugar and yeast.

The celebration will take place at the Peristeri Exhibition Centre (11 am) and will include a traditional feast with Yannis Kapsalis and Makis Tsikos, while children will be entertained with face painting, mini kite making, puppet theatre and Karagiozis by Kostas Spyropoulos shadow theatre.

«Petroculuma» will be celebrated by the municipality of Petroupolis in Agios Dimitrios Square (11 am) with the band of Michalis Michopoulos and with activities for children from 3 to 11 years old. The municipality of Egaleo has planned its own events at the «Barutadiko» of the city's grove (10 am) with folk, rebetika and traditional songs by city artists and local dance groups of Cultural Associations. The municipality of Agia Varvara will celebrate it at the Mother's Grove (11 am) with folk and traditional songs, the municipality of Haidario at Dafni (12 pm) with the traditional music band of Bampi Pournara, the municipality of Kallithea at the Nero Square on the beach (11 am) with the traditional music band of Bambi Pournara, the municipality of Kallithea at the Nero Square on the beach (11 am) with the traditional music band of Bambi Pournara, and the municipality of Kallithea at the beach (11 am) with the traditional music band of Bambis Pournaras.p.) with Konstantina and Nasia Konitopoulou and the municipality of Moschato-Tavros at the National Resistance Square (11 a.m.) with a concert by Grigoris Bithikotsis.

For yet another year the municipality of Alimos will welcome Lent at Pani Hill (11 am) with the traditional orchestra «Tasoula Thodoris» and the municipality of Agios Dimitrios at Asyrmatos (10:30) with dances and songs by the «Traditional Compania» of Yannis Pavlopoulos.

«Koulouma on the Mountain» was planned by the municipality of Elliniko-Argyroupolis and more specifically at the open fields next to the Open Stone Theatre (12 pm) with a music band and events from the city's clubs. The municipality of Glyfada invites residents to «Patitiri» (12 pm) for a feast with the Glyfadiotissa Eleni Rhoda, Thanos Kaliora, Yannis Sakkis and Giorgos Giannopoulos, while the municipality of Vari-Voula-Vouliagmeni will offer its own traditional dishes on the eastern beach of Varkiza (11:30 am.p.m.) and at the event where the Folklore Club of Semeli will participate with its dance section.

The municipality of Ilioupolis will celebrate it at Chalikaki Park (11 am) with traditional music and food, the municipality of Byron will set up a folk feast with the music group «Tzitzikes» at the Vrachon Theatre «Anna Synodinou» (11 am), the municipality of Zografou at Goudi Park (11 am), the municipality of Kaisariani at «Xylina» (11 am), the municipality of Zografou at the Park of Goudi (11 am), the municipality of Kiasariani at "Xylina" (11 am), the municipality of Kiasariani at the "Xylina" (11 am), the municipality of Zografou (11 am).(11 p.m.) with traditional dances from the dance section of the Asia Minor Association and the traditional dance sections of the Cultural Centre, but also with songs from all over Greece with Vivi Vouchela, Kostas Giannakopoulos and their traditional orchestra.

The municipality of Filothei-Psychiko has its own appointment (11 am) with a concert by ONIRAMA, the municipality of Agia Paraskevi at Pefkakia Park (10 am) with live music and Lenten food, and the municipality of Pallini at Anthousa Municipal Park (11:30 am) with wine, music and dance.

The municipality of Vrilissia will welcome Lent at the open theatre «Aliki Vougiouklaki» (11 am), where, among others, the Cretan Association of Vrilissia will offer raki and the cultural association Vrachos Vrilissos will set up a kite making workshop. The municipality of Penteli at the Thalosi Park at the foot of the hill of Profitis Ilias (11 am), the municipality of Lykovrisi-Pefkis at the Municipal Swimming Pool of Lykovrisi (12 pm) with live music, face painting for children and a kite making class. The municipality of Heraklion has prepared its own feast at Ktima Fix (11:30 am) and promises that there will be plenty of wine and raki from the rakokazano of the Cretan Association. The clubs of the city will kick off the dance with their ensembles. Traditional Koulouma at the lake of the Altos (11 am) for the municipality of Nea Filadelfia-Nea Chalkidona, while the municipality of Acharnon will set up its own feast at the Olympic Village (10 am) with the participation of the orchestra of the Municipal Conservatory.

But also outside the basin the «dances are going on». For the municipality of Mandra-Eidyllia at the Erythron stadium and the central square of Oinoi (11 am), for the municipality of Megareon at the port of Nea Peramos (11 am), for the municipality of Lavreotiki at the Chaos of Kamariza (11 am).) with Maria Deikta and her orchestra and for the municipality of Saronikos in Anavissos (12 p.m.) in front of the old «Petrino» refreshment house, for music and dance with the songs of Nikos Volakos, but also with a concert by Triantafyllos at 4 p.m. As for the young citizens and visitors, there will be kites, inflatable games, face painting, animators and soap bubble shows.
