The three days of work of the SYRIZA PS CO in Spetses was completed.
The closed-door working meeting, which took place entirely at the home of the party's chairman, Stefanos Kasselakis, according to the original schedule was to be completed by Saturday evening. However, it continued until noon today as the list of presentations/speeches by all the sectoral leaders was not exhausted.
In a statement after the conclusion of the meeting, the president of the SYRIZA PC, Socrates Famellos, spoke of a dense political discussion of at least 20 hours of work, with 30 positions, noting that «the main subject of the meeting of the PC was the proposals that SYRIZA will submit for the prosperity of Greek society, for better income, better jobs, better environment, better children, better health.
«It combines the meeting of the Central Committee with the elaboration of positions for the SYRIZA congress, the restart and reconstruction of SYRIZA», he added. He stressed that «there are many needs of Greek society and we see that the government cannot serve them. We have an oligopolistic market that operates with obscenity and distortions, we have serious problems in the environment, education and health». Mr. Famellos said that «every person in Greece needs to have the opportunity to claim their dream with the same rights and opportunities. And for this we need sustainable development with social justice and a democratic and fair society’. He underlined that »this is exactly what SYRIZA is proposing, a strong state, a humane and modern state that will have planning for development, for public administration, for the environment, but also a strong rule of law where the European acquis will exist in our country and there will be independent authorities and institutions«. He added that the key message is that »there is a political proposal, there is a way out for Greece and we need a new social agreement that includes the green transition, but also the rule of law and justice. Finally, he said that the president of SYRIZA and all the members who were here noted that the greatest value is that of peace and life.
The secretary of the CoR, Theodora Tzakri, said that «one of the most qualitative and productive working meetings of our parliamentary group was successfully completed». «We coordinated not only all of our opposition work, but also our planning to confront the most anti-social Mitsotakis government, on the issues of inactivity and the economy in general, on the issues of security and the daily life of the citizen,» she said in particular. He noted that «we are moving forward more coordinated and more united». Asked if this will be repeated, Tzakri said that «Spetses attracted interest not because of some bureaucratic procedure, but on the contrary, because there was a willingness to innovate and experiment». She added that «this does not stem from our need to be innovative or modern or to make an impression. This arises first and foremost from the need to express an anxiety after a prolonged period of crisis as regards the quality of our political proposal and the way and form of its expression». In this context, he spoke of «an effort to rethink our defining body, the CoR, with more collectivity and a greater willingness to deepen». «I am confident that this bold venture with its multiple beneficial effects will pave the way for the creation of a political tradition of creativity,» he said. Tzakri thanked the journalists for their interest throughout the days and all the MPs and sectoral leaders of the SYRIZA CO «who participated in various ways for their contribution.» «Above all, I would like to thank SYRIZA President Stefanos Kasselakis because in this case he contributed much more than hospitality,’ he said. Elsewhere, she said of her reference to hospitality that »it reminded us all of the Greek journey that teaches that when a man has felt the need to go out on foreign roads in foreign lands, he is best suited to revive the spirit of hospitality at home as a moral duty.« Asked if this process brought anything new to the CO in the way of doing business, the CO secretary replied, »Sure. A more collective way of working with more depth.«.
