In the announcement of a 24-hour nationwide, all-worker strike on Thursday (16/3) proceeded GSEE and ADEDY for the tragedy of Tempi.
The Executive Committee of the A.D.E.D.Y., in accordance with the authorization received from the General Council, decided to declare a 24-hour nationwide strike for Thursday, March 16.
As stated in an ADEDY announcement, «joining the voice of public employees with that of private sector workers to demand with the general all-worker strike:
to bring to the surface the real culprits of the crime of Tempe and to attribute responsibility to those responsible.
to stop the policy of privatisation, commercialisation and the operation of public services according to private economic criteria, to stop treating the protection of work and life as a cost».
Also, in the same statement the ADEDY stresses: «The crime of Tempe will not be covered up. We demand the life we deserve, a life with modern rights, a better future for us and our children.».
At the same time, a unanimous decision of the delegates of the 38th Congress of the GSEE decided to declare a new nationwide strike following a proposal of the outgoing president.
The GSEE Congress accepted the framework of demands of the Panhellenic Federation of Railway Workers and says «no to impunity» while calling on workers «to become one fist with all the youth and people who are resisting».
