The Executive Bureau and the Political Planning Committee of SYRIZA-PS held a joint meeting today, chaired by Alexis Tsipras. According to party sources, the meeting focused on the party’s electoral readiness, with Alex. Tsipras proposing to expedite the procedures for announcing the candidates for the upcoming elections as well as the SYRIZA-PS electoral platform.
«Mr. Mitsotakis is hiding from Parliament because he is guilty of the unprecedented constitutional abuse he orchestrated and carried out by monitoring—either through illegal software or through lawful connections— not only politicians and journalists, but even judges, prosecutors, the police chief, and key government officials,» said, among other things, the president of SYRIZA-PS, Alexis Tsipras.
«As a guilty man, he has no answers, and that is why he is hiding. And at the same time, he’s planning his escape by calling for elections before the noose of revelations begins to tighten around him,» he emphasized, noting that «it won’t come as a surprise to anyone.» «It would be news if he actually tried to keep his word and serve out his four-year term. It’s now as clear as day that he can’t hold on any longer. How long will he hide from Parliament?» he said, adding that «in any serious European country, after all, he wouldn’t be able to stay in office. He would have already resigned.».
Alexis Tsipras responded to the prime minister’s remarks by saying that «in any case, if he himself ”sensed elections,” society senses hope for change,» while strongly criticizing the government:
«After plunging society into record-high inflation across Europe, they exacerbated the energy crisis with their neoliberal policies, plundered public coffers, and left people’s primary residences at the mercy of all sorts of Patsis-type speculators; now they’re even talking about a second term to finish off the vulnerable and the middle class.».
«The Greek people are facing a crisis and will find a solution. Turning to the people for a verdict will not come as a surprise; it will be a salvation,» he said, adding:
«We are ready, and in the coming period we must speed up our processes for selecting candidates and developing our election platform.».
