Telephone scams targeting residents of our island have become an almost daily occurrence, as yet another such incident has been reported on Kythera.News.
For the second time, Efthymis Papaefthymiou, the owner of the pharmacy in Livadi, Kythira, and his wife, Roula Schiza, have been targeted by unknown individuals who used their names to defraud unsuspecting citizens over the phone. In a conversation we had with Mr. Papaefthymiou, he told us:
«Once again, scammers are using my name and that of my wife, Roula Schiza, to extort money through fraudulent transactions.».
The pharmacist is also informing the island’s residents through Kythera.News and his personal Facebook account, stating that:
«If anyone uses my name or my wife’s name, Roula Schiza, for any transaction, please ignore it. Scammers are operating freely. I’ve recently learned that they’ve expanded their tactics. They’re also calling via the Viber app, and the name that appears is »Papaefthymiou Pharmacy.’ Please do not respond at all. This is a scam. Thank you.”.
So be careful with the phone calls we all receive, because it seems that even phone scammers …have discovered Kythira!
