We stay here: «On the occasion of the modest ceremony at the flagship in Moudari»

Explanations requested by the Municipal Party «Kythira-Antikythera - We stay here» from the Property Committee on the consecration and the beginning of the fixing and restoration works of the Moudari flagship raising issues of opacity and democratic processes in the administration and in the way it takes decisions. On the occasion of the solemn ceremony at the flagship in Moudari

PRESS RELEASE 30/8/2022 “Kythera-Antikythera - We are here”

«The Commission of the Domestic Property of Kythera and Antikythera announces that next Wednesday (31-8-22) at 18:00 p.m. at the flagship in Moudari Karavas will be consecrated for the start of the fixing and restoration works by the Bishop of Kythera, Mr. Seraphim.

Then and during the return of the ship from Gythio, a large Greek flag (15 square meters) will be hoisted on a ten (10) meter mast, in the presence of the Mayor of Kythera, Mr.Eustratios Harchalakis, which will be permanently hoisted during the scheduled hours (East-West).

A delegation of the PN and part of our Philharmonic has been invited to attend.».

Questions

α) Is part of Professor Korres' documented study applied to the fixing work? ;

b) Is there a permit for the project from the Department of Modern Monuments? ;

c) Is there a plan for the development of the flagship in Moudari and if so, which local government body is promoting it? ;

d) Who is taking responsibility for the ceremony without any discussion with the elected bodies of the island and the relevant government agencies? ;

(e) Why is the fixing of the flagpole used as a pretext for hanging a flag? The national spirit and the defence of Greek democracy is not cultivated by hanging flags but by condemning the wiretaps of the EAP which is monitoring 15.000 Greeks under the supervision of the Prime Minister ! But in these matters there is a disrespectful silence from the rulers ....

The idea of sliding through opaque procedures in continuous interventions in the natural and built environment of our islands is something we are radically opposed to. We consider it a crucial issue to respect the guidelines of the experts, the overall development planning and the democratic procedures for the participation of citizens in decisions.
