OPEKA: The online platform for child benefit has opened

Opened and operational as of today, 31 May 2022, the online platform A21 Child Benefit, in order for the beneficiaries of the allowance to submit their application, as stated in an announcement of the Organisation for Provident Benefits and Social Solidarity (OPEKA).

The application is submitted on the IDIKA platform (idika.gr) or via the opeka.gr website, using the beneficiary's personal passwords to TAXISnet.

The eligible amount will be calculated based on the number of dependent children declared on the 2022 A21 and the total family income of the beneficiaries in the 2021 tax year.

Until the submission of the current year's income tax return, the income of the tax year 2020 will be taken into account for the calculation of the amount due. After the due date of this year's tax return, only the income of the tax year 2021 will be taken into account.

The online platform for the submission of the A21 application allows, through extensive electronic cross-checks with available databases of other institutions and services, to verify the accuracy and correctness of the data and information declared at the application stage.

In order for the allowance to be granted, the application must be final and approved. An application that has been temporarily stored is considered not to have been submitted and will not be taken into account.

Useful questions and answers for the application

OPEKA, wanting to facilitate citizens in the process of filling in their application correctly, has considered it useful to highlight some basic questions, which are the following:

  • In the pre-filled A21 application form my child is shown without a name (female or male) and the platform does not allow me to add the name. What should I do?;

If the child's name has already been entered in the AMKA, you must cancel the A21 application and submit a new one. If the child still appears without a name even after the application has been cancelled, you must go to the CCP and register your child's name on the AMKA. Then cancel the A21 application again and submit a definitive new one.

  • Dependants are not recognised because the children's surnames are not identified with their social security number. What should I do?;

Please note that when adding a child, only the surname of the child (not the child's name) and the child's social security number are entered. If the identification problem persists, beneficiaries should check the full details of the dependent child in the online AMKA application (www.amka.gr) and/or contact a KEP to correct any inaccuracies in the online AMKA register. It is likely that the surname next to the AMKA has been entered in the platform in a different way to how it has been entered in the AMKA register. The A21 application should then be cancelled and a new application should be definitively submitted in order to retrieve the corrected data from the AMKA register.

  • The application asks for a child's VAT number, but does not let me enter it and refers me to the CCPs. What should I do?;

For children born in 2004 and later, the VAT number is not required. However, for children born in 2003 and earlier, the VAT number is mandatory. If this TIN is not registered in the AMKA register, then citizens are referred to KEPs to update the AMKA register with the corresponding TIN, as the AMKA register cannot be updated through the A21 application. The saved A21 application must then be cancelled and a new one must be finally submitted in order to re-draw the corrected data from the AMKA register. If you are aware that the child's TIN has already been registered in the AMA, simply cancel the A21 application and submit a new one permanently.

  • While my child's VAT number has been entered in the AMKA register as of today, the application cannot be submitted yet and is listed in the system as a flag. Do I need to do anything else?;

The update of the AMKA with the VAT number is immediate. Cancel the application and finally submit a new one so that the VAT number can be redrawn from your child's VAT number.
