Programme of celebrations for the anniversary of the union of the Ionian Islands with mainland Greece

The Mayor of Kythera invites you to honour with your presence  the festivities  on the Anniversary of the Union of the Ionian Islands with Mother Greece which will take place in Kythera on 21 May 2022  according to the following schedule.

1. General Flagging of all Public Buildings - NPOs - Banks and Houses during the 20th and 21st^η May 2022.

2. Illumination of all Public and Municipal shops, NGOs and Banks during the evening hours of 20^of and of 21^of May 2022.

3. Doxology at the Holy Metropolitan Church of the Crucifixion of Chora of Kythera, on 21/05/2022 at 11:30 am, presided over by Mons. Metropolitan Seraphim of Kythera and Antikythera.

4. Memorial service at Stai Square in Chora Chora Kythera, on 21/05/2022 at 11:50 am.

5. Laying of Wreaths by:

• Deputy Mayor of Kythera Mr. Georgios Kominos
• Chairman of the Property of Kythera and Antikythera, Mr Evangelos Venardos
• Commander of the Kythera Naval Observatory, Commander Mr. Emmanuel Ablianitis PN
• Chief TACAN Kythera, Chief Inspectorate Mr. Nikolaos Serrefas
• Commander of the Kythera Police Station, Lieutenant A΄ Mr Antonio-Rose Piliko
• Commander of Kythera L/T, Lieutenant Niki Giannakopoulou
• Head of the Kythera P/K, Pyragos Mr. Spyridon Fountoulakis
• School Students' Representative

1. Observe one minute's silence.

2. National Anthem.

3. Solemn speech by the historian-philologist Mrs. Eleni Harou.

4. Traditional Dances by the students of the schools.

5. Parade of school groups before the authorities.

The master of ceremonies is Professor Dimitrios Andrikopulos.

The events will be accompanied by the Philharmonic Orchestra of Kythera Potamos Kythera, thanks to its Director Mr. Panagiotis Leftheris.
