Coronavirus: 21,412 new cases—77 deaths—489 on ventilators

The number of new laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 recorded in Greece over the past 24 hours is 21,412, of which 32 were identified following screenings at the country’s entry points. The total number of cases stands at 2,216,411 (daily change +1%), of which 49.7% are men. Based on confirmed cases over the past 7 days, 395 are considered travel-related, and 2,338 are linked to a previously known case.

There were 77 new deaths among Covid-19 patients, bringing the total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic to 24,917. The 95% had an underlying medical condition and/or was 70 years of age or older.

The number of patients hospitalized and on a ventilator is 489 (62% men). Their median age is 66 years. 85.7% have an underlying medical condition and/or are 70 years of age or older. Among the patients currently hospitalized and on mechanical ventilation, 369 (75.46%) are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and 120 (24.54%) are fully vaccinated. Since the start of the pandemic, 4,155 patients have been discharged from ICUs.

The number of new COVID-19 patients admitted to hospitals nationwide is 343 (daily change: -2,56%). The seven-day average of admissions is 393 patients. The median age of cases is 35 years (range 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of deaths is 79 years (range 0.2 to 106 years).
