Two years after his last film, the «Minamata» by Andrew Levitas where he played the famous American photojournalist Eugene Smith -and after being ousted from the franchise «Fantastic Beasts» (when he lost his trial in the libel case against a British tabloid, which described him as a «violent husband» during the period he was covering his divorce from Hurd), the Johnny Depp returns to the cinema.
Depp, who last August said that Hollywood was boycotting him, although in Europe he won awards at two film festivals, will impersonate the King of France, Louis XV, in the film directed by the French director, actress and screenwriter Maywyn («Polisse»), who will play the last mistress of Louis, the second longest-serving king in France, Jean de Bari, who was beheaded in the French Revolution.
No further details have been revealed at the moment, but French magazine Closer, which reported the news, says that filming will begin on July 8 in Paris and that, among other things, scenes will also be filmed at the Palace of Versailles.
Along with his return to cinema, Depp announced that he will offer for sale portraits of his friends and heroes that he has painted as a collection of NFTs.
His collection, presented for the first time, is titled Never Fear Truth and includes portraits of Marlon Brando, Elizabeth Taylor, Heath Ledger, Lily-Rose Depp, Tim Burton, his dog who is no longer alive, the actor himself and a fictional character created by his son called Bunnyman.
25% of the proceeds from sales will be donated to hospitals and non-governmental organisations, supported by Johnny Depp, including Los Angeles Children's Hospital and Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital and the Elizabeth Taylor Aids Foundation.
«My involvement in the NFTs space has just begun,» he said, among many other things, in a statement.
