His intention to announce by tomorrow the candidate for president of the Movement for Change that he will support in the second round of the internal party elections expressed the Andreas Loverdos.
Speaking to Skye, he stressed that he is a political position that has never hidden and that is why will take a stand now, announcing whether it will vote for Nikos Androulakis or George Papandreou next Sunday. Before making any announcements, he will talk to his colleagues, MPs and non MPs, as he said he respects those who have stood by him.
Mr.Loverdos, who yesterday was left out of the succession race in Kinal, stressed that the main message sent by the polls is renewal. On the high turnout in the elections, he said that it was a political issue, as it proves that the party is present. He even spoke of an opportunity that should not be missed.
He thanked the tens of thousands who voted for him, saying that he would continue and that he would not abandon them. He said that in the battle of ideas in relation to PASOK, its name, its identity and the expectation of more than doubling its strength, he won, but lost at the ballot box.
Asked whether Androulakis should resign as an MEP, Loverdos said he could not answer for himself and that it would be «a bit provocative» to say anything against him. «You should ask him yourself. I can't do that,» he told reporters.
