New measures: What applies from Monday to catering, retail, entertainment

Tough treatment for those who have not had the vaccine

The first protection measure is the use of protective mask to all the Indoors, including workplaces and to all the outdoors where it is observed overcrowding.

Also, compliance distances of one and a half metres between the Individuals (one person per 2 sq.m.) in internal and outdoors, either pure for fully vaccinated and diseased in the last six months, or mixed.

Public services

The number of teleworking employees shall be determined on the basis of the nature of the employees' duties and the needs of each service and the arrival of employees shall be phased in in accordance with the needs of the service and the instructions of the competent supervisor.

The service to the public is preferably, but not exclusively, by appointment. The public shall be admitted on compulsory presentation - at the entrance - of a vaccination certificate or a certificate of infection or a certificate of a negative coronavirus diagnostic test (PCR or rapid test). Minors aged between four and 17 years may alternatively present a declaration of a negative self-diagnostic test (self-test). Exceptions to the application of this point shall be made in cases of absolute urgency, in particular access to police stations, which cannot be postponed.

Meetings of the collective bodies and working meetings shall be held by teleconference or by physical presence with the participation of up to seven persons.

Private enterprises

Operation with the necessary staff, service to the public only in urgent cases and by appointment, except for banks and cases in which an appointment cannot be scheduled (courier companies, Greek postal services (ELTA), PPC, EVDAP, etc.). As regards banks in particular, the public shall enter on presentation, on entry, of a vaccination certificate or a certificate of infection or a certificate of a negative coronavirus test (PCR or rapid test). Minors between four and 17 years of age may alternatively present a negative self-test declaration.

Courts, public prosecutor's offices, paid and unpaid mortgage offices, cadastral offices and branches of the Hellenic Cadastre“

Upon entry, citizens are required to show a certificate of vaccination or a certificate of infection or a certificate of a negative coronavirus test (PCR or rapid test). Minors from four to 17 years of age may alternatively present a negative self-test declaration.

In courts, prosecutors' offices and military courts, up to 15 people are allowed in the room.

Hospitals, clinics, surgeries, diagnostic centres and rehabilitation centres

The following shall apply to staff who have been suspended from performing their duties and during that period have contracted Covid-19:

  • Laboratory molecular testing (PCR) of the symptomatic worker is done in a public facility. If the first laboratory test is done in a private facility, it shall be confirmed within 24 hours in a public health facility. A previously obtained sample may not be provided and sampling shall be carried out within the public facility in the presence of more than one person with sampling authority.
  • One attendant/visitor per patient. Fully vaccinated and sick patient attendants who have been sick within the last six months shall not be subject to laboratory testing prior to entry into a public or private primary health care facility including public and private practices.
  • Unvaccinated or uninfected patient companions are subject to laboratory testing (PCR or rapid test) within 48 hours before entering a public or private primary health care facility including public and private clinics.
  • Fully vaccinated or sick in the last six months, hospitalised patient attendants are subject to laboratory testing (PCR or rapid test) within 48 hours before admission to any other public or private health facility.
  • Unvaccinated or uninfected hospitalised patient attendants are subject to laboratory testing for COVID-19 by PCR within 48 hours prior to entry into any other public or private healthcare facility.
  • In the above cases, the results of the laboratory tests are confirmed through the dedicated Covid Free GR application. Patient escorts attending an Emergency Department are exempt from the above obligations.
  • Patients attending a public or private health facility for screening are not subject to laboratory testing for COVID-19.
  • Patients attending a public or private health facility for an invasive examination or an examination that may cause gas leaks are subject to laboratory testing (PCR or rapid test)
  • Patients attending a public or private health facility for emergency treatment are exempt from the above obligations.

Archaeological sites, museums, closed monuments and venues for visual and other artistic exhibitions, film screenings, live shows and performances, other performing arts

Only persons who have been vaccinated or become ill in the last six months may enter, Visitors are required to show a vaccination certificate or a certificate of illness upon entry. Minors from four to 17 years of age may alternatively present a negative self-test.

Group tours are allowed with the use of a mask and the observance of distances.

Entertainment venues including indoor banquet halls, music venues and boutiques

Operation exclusively for fully vaccinated or sick in the last six months. Occupancy rate 100%. Mandatory presentation of a vaccination certificate, or certificate of illness, upon entry of clients.

Catering (e.g. restaurants, cafés, internet cafés, canteens, cafeterias, cafeterias, catering, outdoor banqueting areas)

Adults are admitted on compulsory presentation on entry of a vaccination certificate or certificate of infection or a certificate of a negative coronavirus diagnostic test (PCR or rapid test).

Unvaccinated chaperones are not allowed to enter indoor playgrounds.

Places of Worship

Religious ministers and chaplains are exempt from the mandatory wearing of masks exclusively during the religious ceremony.

Persons shall enter for the purpose of participating in any kind of religious ceremony upon compulsory presentation at entry of a vaccination certificate or certificate of infection, or a certificate of a negative coronavirus diagnostic test (PCR or rapid test). Minors between 4 and 17 years of age may alternatively present a declaration of a negative self test.

In retail businesses and hairdressing salons customers shall enter on presentation of a certificate of vaccination, or a certificate of infection, or a certificate of a negative diagnostic test for COVID-19 coronavirus (PCR or rapid test). Minors 4-17 years old with a negative self-diagnostic test (self-test).

  • In supermarkets, food shops (such as butchers, fishmongers, bakeries, bakeries, bakeries and liquor stores), consumers can access food without being checked. However, in this case there is an additional restriction of a maximum possible simultaneous presence of customers inside the shop to 1 person per 9 square metres.
  • In pharmacies, consumer access is possible without control.

Retail shops in urban centres will be open every day from 10.00 in the morning until 21.00 in the evening on weekdays. This measure does not apply to supermarkets, food market shops (such as butchers, fishmongers, bakeries, bakeries, confectioners and liquor stores) and pharmacies.

Controlling consumer access to restricted areas is the responsibility of both businesses and consumers. Businesses, when entering and serving their customers indoors in their premises, are required to check the vaccination certificate or recent illness or diagnostic test certificate, as appropriate, presented by the customer, and that the customer presenting the certificate is the legal holder of the certificate, by checking his/her identity card or other legal original document proving his/her identity. The check is carried out by an employee of the company, the owner or the legal representative of the company or the person authorised by the company through the special application “Covid Free GR”. The entry and service of foreign customers who have a vaccination certificate or a certificate of recent illness from a country outside the European Union is allowed by simply showing the certificate with a simultaneous presentation of a document proving identity (e.g. passport), without the need for the check with the special application COVID Free GR.

Continuing the face-to-face educational process in schools, universities with the measures already in place

According to the Government Gazette, the live educational operation of all primary, secondary and special education school units (kindergartens, primary schools, all-day schools, secondary schools and high schools of general and vocational education) continues with the measures already in force.

The conduct of any form of educational process in the context of programmes of the first, second and third cycle of studies of higher education institutions, such as the teaching of courses (compulsory, compulsory elective or free choice), the holding of seminars, the independent teaching of immersion courses in small groups of students, laboratory exercises, clinical exercises and practical training of students are carried out compulsorily in person and in accordance with the coronavirus prevention measures already in force.

Similarly, with the physical presence of trainees/trainees and trainers and the protection measures in force so far, the structures within the Detention Centres, the Vocational Training Institutes (IEK), the Lifelong Learning Centres (LLLCs), the Second Chance Schools (S.D.E.)

In addition, the in-person operation of language schools and language centres remains in force in accordance with the protection measures.

Specifically, in order to participate in the course, students, candidates and teachers of language schools/language centres who do not present a vaccination certificate or a certificate of illness within the last semester must present to the person in charge of the language school/language centre, for students and candidates, a certificate of a negative self-test carried out two (2) times a week, and for teachers, a certificate of a negative rapid test or PCR carried out two (2) times a week at their own expense. For other staff of language schools/language centres who do not produce a vaccination certificate or a certificate of illness within the last six months, the same applies as for the private sector.
