Exposed the Mitsotakis government after what the professor at Stanford Medical School in California revealed, John Ioannis Ioannidis regarding the «experts» who are daily hosted in the media, in order to give their scientific opinion on the COVID-19.
Twelve Greek «tele-experts» prominent in the media were evaluated in terms of their publications in the scientific literature on Covid-19, according to an analysis published in the British medical journal «BMJ Open» led by Professor Ioannis Ioannidis of Stanford Medical School in California.
The study looks at the scientific output and impact of the most prominent coronavirus scientists in the media in four countries (76 experts from the USA, 50 from Denmark, 12 from Greece and 2 from Switzerland). In other words, the question of the study was whether the experts selected by the media in each country carry significant scientific «weight» in informing people about current developments on Covid-19.
According to the findings of the study, the landscape of information from tele-experts in the time of the pandemic remains cloudy and barren according to Professor Ioannidis as «most of the prominent experts have not published anything in the scientific literature on Covid-19 and the vast majority have not had much scientific impact in their overall work throughout their careers. There is a major disconnect between scientific reality and reality television.».
That is, the media, not only promote scientists who have contributed absolutely nothing to the literature on Covid disease, but who have made little scientific contribution in their entire careers, regardless of Covid! The fourth estate (the media) pushes aside scientists with great contributions to the pandemic and significant «gallons» in their work, and promotes second- and third-rate «experts».
In Greece, of the 12 scientists frequently featured in MMEs, only 2 were rated as being in the top 2% of international scientific impact. The same phenomenon is observed in the other countries examined. 23 of the 76 scientists in the US have significant scientific «weight». 10 of the 50 in Denmark and none of the 2 in Switzerland.
