At noon on Saturday it was reported by local radio station AdelinFM that the readers of the blog http://adelinfm.blogspot.com/ from now on they will be able to post comments only by name on what is published on it. According to the station had been preceded by complaints readers for obscene and offensive comments against our compatriots which the anonymous commenter posted under specific blog posts in recent months.
Complaint related to the issue was made by a reader of AdelinFM's blog and in Kythera.News. As we reported the inappropriate comments were aimed at his person (who has political status in the local government of the island), while they bore a different signature each time using common names of Kythera origin (Nikos Kalligeros, Nikos Strategos, Kostas Kasimatis etc.). He also told us that he has made a complaint to the Electronic Crime Directorate of the Hellenic Police.
If this «hooded» commentator or any commentator participates in an unethical and dark way in the public debate, believing that artificial «anonymity» will protect him, he is probably deluded. Cybercrime agencies with state-of-the-art technologies can track the I.P. and ID of any device used (mobile, computer, tablet) and enforce it accordingly.
The issue of anonymous cyber attacks has been raised several times in Kythera, and should both local institutions and society to put an end to the brazen action of such individuals. Kythera.News congratulates Mr Panagiotis Politis for his decision to close the anonymous comments from the AdelinFM blog. Democracy provides that citizens' participation in the public debate is free and unhindered, but with a name and a surname. Any other way is terrorist, criminal and socially reprehensible.
