In a press release issued on Friday evening, the Dynamo Citizens' Movement informs Kythirians about the new wind energy production permits issued by RAE and calls on citizens to fight in court to support the interests of the place and Tsirigoians.
KYTHIRA CITIZENS' MOVEMENT - PRESS RELEASE
3 new production licenses to the company called «TERNA ENERGY
A.B.E.T.E. - VECTOR WIND FARMS OF GREECE WIND FARM TRULOS S.R.O.» and the
d.o.b. «Aeoliko Park Troullos O.E.», issued by the Regulatory Authority
Energy and relate to Kythera.
These are 50 wind turbines within the NATOURA 2000 area in the northern part
of the island and 16 wind turbines in Finikies that have already been given permission
production, without taking into account distance restrictions from villages, ,
cultural monuments , etc., while there is overlap with the industrial wind
station of the Kopelouzos Group.
The energy frenzy on the island continues, as does the struggle of the companies
for profit at the expense of nature and the land.
What if it is a designated NATURA 2000 site? no one is moved.
The energy frenzy against the country continues, since we have just
reached 282 megawatts while the island's energy needs are 4 megawatts
on average.
But, as written in a financial newspaper, «The four new wind farms will
come to further strengthen the portfolio of Terna Energy, which
is constantly growing, further widening the distance from the
competition. The Group currently has, in Greece and abroad, wind turbines
parks 1,374 MW in operation, 397 MW under construction or ready for construction and
to licensing 5.132 MW.
Based on the latest ELETAEN data on the dynamics of its players
wind energy in the first half of this year, TENEG led the race with 703
MW, compared to 665.1 in 2020, followed by Hellaktor with 482 MW, while in
even further away was ENEL Green Power with 368 MW, which
do not differ from the 2020 figures.».
In other words, the portfolio is strengthened, nature is dissolved, for the benefit
interests of the companies.
In Kythera, the struggle for nature and the character of the island continues. The
residents know and fight for the good of the place and the future of the island and
not the portfolios.
All of us should support the judicial struggles that are taking place, and be active
in the interest of Kythera.
