At least 11 people were killed and four injured in a gunman's attack on a school in the city Kazan, in the central Russia, on Tuesday, 11/05. According to the Russian news agencies Interfax and Ria Novosti, the perpetrator is a teenager who was arrested.
According to the emergency services, cited by Interfax, the victims are eight students and one teacher. However, it was later announced that the death toll was 11. The injured have been taken to hospital. There have been conflicting reports about the attack, with some Russian news agencies reporting that the attackers were two armed teenagers and others that it was one attacker.

RIA reported that the gunman was arrested and that an explosion had been heard earlier at the school.
The motive for the attack is not known.

Footage uploaded to social media shows emergency services vehicles parked outside the school and people running towards the building. Other videos show broken glass on the outside. Kazan is the capital of the Russian Republic of Tatarstan and is located 700 km east of Moscow.
There was a second perpetrator, who was overpowered.

Citing a source, the Russian news agency Tass reported that there was a second gunman in the armed attack at a school in the Russian city of Kazan, who was neutralised. The death toll remains at 11, and emergency services said two students were killed by falling out of their classroom windows to save themselves.
