Europe is expected that by the end of the year it will become the world leader in vaccine production against coronavirus, as well as 52 factories across the continent will participate in this process, said today in Spain the Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton.
Breton also said that Europe is expected to have vaccinated enough people this summer, probably around mid-July, to reach a level of «collective immunity».
By the end of the year Europe is expected to have the capacity to produce between two and three billion doses, the commissioner said from the Barcelona factory of pharmaceutical company Reig Jofre, which will produce its vaccine Johnson & Johnson against coronavirus in the second quarter of this year.
