There are many times when you have cooked much more than you expected to consume.
The result is that you'll have plenty of food for the next day without having to go back into the kitchen.
It is important for all of us who are used to eating food from the day before to realise that it is not safe to reheat all food a second time in the microwave.
Sometimes there are foods that, when reheated, can be poisonous.
Potatoes
If cooked potatoes are stored at room temperature, bacteria can grow quickly and can cause food poisoning if consumed.
It is safer to store cooked potatoes in the fridge and heat them up if you want to by taking them out and putting them straight into the oven.
Onions, beetroot, spinach and celery
These 4 vegetables should not be reheated. If you want to reheat a dish that includes them, remove them first and then reheat your food normally.
Mushrooms
The protein structure of mushrooms and related foods changes when they are heated and can be altered in such a way that they can be dangerous.
The same can happen when mushrooms are stored outside the refrigerator. It is best to eat the mushrooms immediately and not to store them for more than a day in the refrigerator.
Rice
Throwing up rice can even send you to the hospital. If it's cooked and stored outside the fridge, bacteria can grow that can even cause food poisoning. To avoid any digestive problem, store rice in the refrigerator and in an airtight container.
Oil
Some oils can deteriorate very quickly. Some of these are walnut oil, hazelnut oil, grape seed oil and avocado oil.
If you have already used one of the above oils to cook or fry something, you can be sure that by reheating the food, harmful fats will have been released.
Eggs
Foods such as scrambled, boiled or fried eggs should never be reheated.
Reheating could cause unpleasant symptoms in your digestive system, mainly due to the high protein content of the egg.
Chicken
Like eggs, chicken, because of its high protein content, reheating and then eating it can cause stomach pains, vomiting, or diarrhea.
Of course, this will not happen if you heat it once but in case you want to heat it a second time.
The best way to heat the chicken is by wrapping it in some foil and heating it in the oven or on a plate in the microwave just once.
Never use foil in the microwave!
