A key witness in the case of the death of former minister Sifi Valyrakis complains that he was brutally beaten and intimidated by unknown perpetrators.
The victim after the attack appealed to the prosecutor's office in Chalkis where he filed a complaint. According to him, apart from the beating, the perpetrators intimidated him and warned him to be careful what he would say in court.
According to the announcement of the proxy lawyer of the witness, Dimitris Bardis, published by eviathema.gr: «Today, February 21 this year, a complaint was filed at the Prosecutor's Office of Chalkida on behalf of my client, Evangelos Asmanis, an eyewitness in the case of the murder of Sifi Valyrakis, against unknown perpetrators.
On 8 February, hooded assailants who got out of a black Ford Focus without number plates, surrounded Asmanis, inflicted minor injuries and threatened him to “watch what he says” and “how he says it” when he is called by the investigating judge who has the case of Sifis Valyrakis in his hands, otherwise they warned him that they will “melt him down”.
My client is experiencing a climate of terrorism in the place where he lives by dark forces that have joined forces in order to close the file of the death of the Valyrakis case as a maritime accident» concludes the lawyer Dimitris Bardis.
It is recalled that in the case of the death of Sifis Valyrakis after a prosecutor's order, a criminal prosecution for manslaughter with intent is underway. According to the lawyers of the family Manolis Fotakis and Kostas Papadakis, the «development «reverses any attempt to create the impression that it was a maritime accident, creates the conditions for the just punishment of the guilty parties and vindicates the family of the deceased for the systematic pursuit of every institutional and procedural possibility on their part so as not to reinforce the erroneous choices of some actors of the pre-trial procedure that put at risk a cover-up of a homicide by intent.
