The immediate commencement of 3D seismic surveys for hydrocarbons in the Ionian region was announced by Helleniq Energy CEO Andreas Siamisis, presenting yesterday to analysts the group's third quarter results.
“The interpretation of the two-dimensional seismic data is complete, we have enough data to proceed to three-dimensional surveys in the coming weeks,” he said. Meanwhile, seismic surveys are ongoing since yesterday in the areas West and Southwest of Crete.
Mr. Siamisis said that the price increase starts to have an impact on demand but after the third quarter. He added, however, that expectations for the last quarter are also positive, although not as much as the previous quarters, while the start of 2023 is expected to be positive, but without a repeat of last year's figures.
He said it was the best figures in the last twenty years as the group yesterday reported an operating EBITDA of Euro504 million in the quarter (compared to 125 million last year), while comparable net profit amounted to 381 million (from 33 million).
With regard to the taxation of excess profits, it was mentioned that Elpedison will pay 18 million while the framework for the taxation of the refineries' excess profits has not yet been finalized.
Finally, Mr.Siamisis referred to the development of the renewable sources sector, mainly through the development of projects which, as he said, has greater benefit for the company and the energy transition, but also to the social measures taken by the group to cover the needs for heating oil of specific vulnerable groups and the market as a whole with an additional discount on the refinery price.
