We're sorry to have to remind you, but it's about time we started thinking about Christmas.
If we want to bring our decorations down from the attic, we only have a few weeks to wait before we start making our home more festive.
In fact, whether we believe it or not, we’ll have to decorate our Christmas tree THIS MONTH.
As Christmas Tree World explains, the countdown to Christmas typically begins four Sundays before Christmas. This means that Sunday, November 27, is the «ideal» day to start decorating.
However, there are many other traditions that follow different dates—and none is any more «correct» than any of the others.
Another popular choice for many households is to start decorating their homes on December 1—the beginning of the holiday season.
A new survey by Confused.com finds that this tends to be the «norm,» with 47% of people putting up decorations between December 1 and 10, and 62% adding that December is when the holiday season officially begins.
According to HuffPost UK, only 11% of people admitted to putting up their decorations in November, while 42% believe that November is too early to put up Christmas decorations.
When it comes to the Christmas blues, however, decorating our home early on can actually be good for our mental well-being.
Psychologist Deborah Serani notes that decorating our home for Christmas early could «create that neurological change that can bring about happiness, as Christmas decorations trigger the release of dopamine, a hormone associated with feeling good.».
