«The General makes a fuss in the square» deals with and cautions, through its heroes and heroines, issues of everyday life, presented in a particularly vivid, vivid, direct and accessible way.
People of different genders and ages are desperately trying to communicate through their personal moments or daily activities. Sometimes outdoors and sometimes indoors, they converse with people in their environment or with the person next to them, but more often than not, they themselves instigate their efforts. The one-act plays in the book raise key questions about both interpersonal relationships and bridging the gap between human contact.
Makis Tsitas has collected in one edition one-act plays, most of which have already been performed on stage under the direction of Roula Pateraki (Piraeus Municipal Theatre), Ersi Vasilikioti (Theatre of the Times) and Prometheus Aliferopoulos (Piraeus Municipal Theatre).
Bio:
Makis Tsitas was born in 1971 in Giannitsa. He obtained a degree in journalism and worked with radio stations in Thessaloniki. Since 1994 he lives permanently in Athens. He runs the informative site for books and culture Diastixo.gr.
His theatre works have been directed by Roula Pateraki, Tatiana Ligari, Sofia Karagianni, Prometheus Aliferopoulos, Ersi Vasilikioti, Taru Makela, Alexandru Mazgareanu and his lyrics have been set to music by Giorgos Stavrianos, Takis Soukas and Tatiana Zografou. His short stories and books for children have been translated into many languages. He has published 26 books for children and 5 for adults. For his novel «My Martyr God» he received the European Union Literature Prize 2014 and was honoured by the Municipalities of Athens, Pella, Edessa, the Public Central Library of Edessa and the Region of Central Macedonia. «My Martyr God» is published in 12 European languages.
