Driving along the narrow, winding road of Myrtidia on Kythira (a road construction project completed in 1821 during the British occupation), the landscape is rugged, and below, just a few centimeters from the vehicle, lies the steep ravine; and ahead of us, the impressive opening—the result of blasting and rock removal— Trypia Petra, or Parathira.
Continuing along the path, in the distance is the small church of the Myrtidi Monastery, a little further down, the Monastery of Panagia Myrtidiotissa, and in the background, the sea with the islet of Stroggili.
The film ends with views of the monastery and its courtyard as two visitors chat while walking.
Panagia Myrtidiotissa is the largest monastery on Kythira and is the island’s patron saint.
