Support is being provided to fire brigades which have been underway since last night in the Livadaki area of the municipality of Andritsaina–Krestena, in the Ilia, in order to bring the fire burning in a forested area under control.
More specifically, according to the Fire Department, There are 103 firefighters on the scene with 35 vehicles and five teams of ground crews, while three firefighting planes are conducting water drops from the air.
Throughout the night, firefighters battled the flames in an effort to keep the fire away from the residential areas of Livadaki, Ptelia, and Kallithea.
In addition, local government water trucks and heavy equipment are assisting with firefighting efforts, while a team from the Arson Crimes Division is expected to arrive in the area to investigate the cause of the fire.
