Ο John Malkovich, one of the leading actors, will be at the Herodion on October 6 with the satirical project «The Music Critic,» conceived and created by violinist, composer, producer, and actor Aleksey Igudesman.
As noted in a press release from the organizers, Aleksey Igudesman creates a sardonic mix of the worst—and perhaps most unexpected— music reviews of the past few centuries, written by the world’s most famous music critics about some of the greatest works in world music, and John Malkovich, with tremendous skill, plays the role of the villainous critic who believes that the music of Beethoven, Chopin, Prokofiev, and so many others is simply tedious and depressing.
The evening wraps up with «The Torture of Malkovich,» a scathing review that was once written about him…
The performance features live renditions of excerpts from works by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Brahms, Schumann, Debussy, Prokofiev, Ysaÿe, Kancheli, Piazzolla, and the show’s creator, Aleksey Igudesman. The ensemble accompanying John Malkovich includes, among others, pianist Hyung-ki Joo.
