It was during the motion of censure of SYRIZA - PROGRESSIVE ALLIANCE against her Mitsotakis government. The mess of the executive state of the Right during the recent snowfall was one of the issues that the parliamentary group of SYRIZA wanted to highlight. There were many, many more that we heard documented this weekend. Some we knew and some we did not.
Found, however, the Polakis in the course of the parliamentary group. Once again the machine god of New Democracy has appeared to bail it out from the criticisms levelled at it during the three-day parliamentary procedure. And in a «bunch» way that deeply offends the values of the Left and the culture of the progressive citizens of this country, to whom SYRIZA wants to appeal and win.
It was not about populist activism or pavement talk, as his words were described. It was an extremely sexist speech, which, as we have often argued, is a link in the chain of gender-based violence experienced by women and all forms of femininity. It is a stepping stone to the last link: gender crime. And on the one hand, SYRIZA-PROGRESSIVE SYMPHYA RUBO succeeds with its sensitivity to femicide and its amendment on its criminal recognition, and on the other hand, the toxic masculinity of Polakis appears, with the usual exhortation.
The next day, the tin underwear was the first news. All the criticism from the parliamentary group and Alexis Tsipras was forgotten. Polakis, I imagine, for his own personal reasons and for his own audience, which I have no doubt exists, spilled all the milk from the cartridge. And he has made many members of this party deeply ashamed of the discourse emanating from its central figures. And we feminists, those of us who are within SYRIZA-PROGRESSIVE ALLIANCE, have to wonder what on earth we are fighting for in society when the party of the Left is covering up similar phenomena.
