The 2022 vehicle registration fees have been posted on the myCAR online platform of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue.
Through the platform, vehicle owners will be able to:
- To digitally de-register or deregister their vehicle by submitting its license plate numbers electronically, without having to visit the relevant tax office.
Download the road tax notice and obtain a certificate confirming that no road tax is owed
They should get their vehicles back on the road and pay monthly registration fees.
The only change this year is that the payment of 2022 vehicle registration fees will be handled differently.
More specifically, vehicle owners should log in to the AADE’s myCar platform using their Taxis credentials and select the «Vehicle Registration Fees» section.
Next, you will see the option to view the payment notice, which this year will also include a QR code that can be used to make a direct payment via online banking.
The deadline for paying vehicle registration fees is December 31, 2021—excluding any extensions. Please note that those who do not pay their vehicle registration fees on time will be required to pay double the amount.
Credit card holders have the option to pay their vehicle registration fees in 12 interest-free monthly installments.
The amount of vehicle registration fees
With regard to the amount of road tax for older vehicles registered on or before October 30, 2010, the fees are calculated based on the vehicle’s age and engine displacement. Specifically:
- from 22 to 1,230 euros for vehicles registered by 2000
from 22 to 1,260 euros for vehicles registered between 2001 and 2005
from 22 to 1,380 euros for vehicles manufactured between 2006 and 2010.
For vehicles registered on or after January 1, 2011, the fees are calculated based on carbon dioxide emissions.
