The Rapid Missile Patrol Vehicle (RMP) «TRUPAKIS» of the Navy is these days in Kapsali Kythera, participating in the celebrations of the Panagia Myrtidiotissa, patron saint of the island. The presence of the warship in the port, on the eve of the great celebration, gives a special symbolism, linking tradition with the modern deterrent power of the Armed Forces.
«TRUPAKIS» is a ship of modern technology, designed for naval operations near coasts, with emphasis on countering aircraft, surface ships and guided missiles. It is distinguished for its its speed, firepower and resistance to combat conditions, but also for its ability to operate in an environment of Radiobiological and Electronic Warfare.

Background
The ship was launched in 1977 in France and is the third of four TPCs of the type Combattante III B that joined the fleet. Its name pays tribute to the Lieutenant Troupakis, who fell heroically in 1943 alongside the crew of the submarine «Katsonis», during an operation in Sounion.
Since then, the «TROPAKIS» has been serving the Navy continuously, participating in exercises and missions, while it remains symbol of sacrifice, honour and continuity of the struggle for freedom in the Greek seas.
