From Corfu to Kythera for the sake of blessing
Around 1880 Kytherios Kyriakos Darmaros served in Corfu as a tax collector. Returning to Kythera he brought with him a letter of confirmation, which was given to him as a blessing from the Monastery of St. Spyridon in Corfu. This letter, typed, has a lithograph of the skeleton of Saint Spyridon with a decorative frame around it. The text of the letter is in Greek and French and above the text is the coat of arms of the Voulgaris family. On the left a small piece of cloth fixed with a bull's-eye seal. At the bottom is the signature of the hieromonk George Voulgaris, who apparently belongs to the family of the Comet Voulgares, the possessors of the monastery. The piece of cloth is «from the footwear submitted in the pouches of the miraculous and sacred body of St. Spyridon”.”
