On Thursday 10/12, the Mayor of Kythera Mr. Efstratios Harhalakis participated in a broad teleconference of the Mayors of Attica with the political leadership of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, which was initiated by the Mayor of Attica George Patoulis.
The Mayor of Kythera raised important issues to the Minister Mr. Kostis Hatzidakis, the Deputy Minister Mr. Dimitris Economou and the Secretary General of Waste Management Mr. Manolis Grafakos.
Specifically, he persistently requested the intervention of the Ministry of Environment in order to lift the deadlock created by the 2017 forest maps in public and public infrastructure (ports, roads, reservoirs, water supply infrastructure, etc.) by characterizing them as «forest». He also asked for exceptions for islands regarding the obligation to collect waste in 4 distinct streams due to objective technical and economic difficulties.
The issue of wind turbines was also discussed, with the Minister mentioning the need to revise the spatial planning of RES, admitting that «there are exaggerations».
