Brief Biography of George Tzannes

Kythira has been the central theme of George Tzannes’s work for five decades. He lives and works in New York, where he was born, and in Kythira, where his father was born. He first visited Kythira in 1971; since then, the island has become the central theme of his art, which he expresses through a variety of techniques, such as painting, drawing, lithography, and sculpture. His works depict many Kythirian themes inspired by the island’s landscapes and architecture, as well as objects from both the recent and ancient past.
