Egnatia, the Municipality of Kythira, and the Metropolis are organizing an event to commemorate the Fall of Constantinople

Anniversary event for the The Fall of Constantinople by the Ottoman Turks, are co-organized by the The Local Property Committee, the Municipality of Kythira, and the Metropolis.

The following is stated in the relevant announcement by the Local Property Commission:

«The Kythira and Antikythira Local Property Commission announces that, in collaboration with the Metropolis and the Municipality of Kythira, an anniversary event commemorating the Fall of Constantinople on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. (7:00 p.m.), in the hall of the Kythira Association in Chora.

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Dimitrios Verras, Director of the National Health System and historian,  who will present the actual facts that led to the fall of Constantinople to the Turks and the ensuing four centuries of slavery.

-The event will last an hour and a half.

-The following day, Sunday, May 29, the day of the Fall of Constantinople, a memorial service will be held for those massacred by the Ottomans at 10:00 a.m. at the Chora Castle.
