The free medicines that had been provided for over 600,000 low pensioners when they were cut off ESAS, stops on 31 December 2020, so that from the new year, they will have to pay their own contribution for their medicines.
This is provided for in Article 2 of Law no. 4655/2020 and despite pressure from pensioners' organisations, no decision has been taken to extend the beneficial provision.
It should be noted that these are pensioners with a gross pension of up to 500 euros, estimated at 606,280 according to official data from the Ministry of Labour.
