The suspension of the operating regulation of the Bazaar in Potamos, requests, in a statement, the Kythira Potamos Recreational Cultural Association, until it (the regulation) is communicated to all parties involved (vendors, residents).
At the same time, the Association demands full clarification of the controversial Article 4 - which has been a point of friction in the dispute between the municipal authority and the opposition - clearly stating that the Bazaar will be held «only in and around the River Square».
The announcement follows:
The Board of the Cultural Association, on the occasion of the submission for adoption of the draft «Regulation of the Sunday Bazaar Potamos», asks for the suspension of the implementation of the regulation until it becomes known to all bodies, involved vendors of the bazaar and the residents of Potamos this so important issue for our place.
We are waiting for the opinion of a qualified lawyer for the regulation of the bazaar because we believe that it is not included in Law 4497/17, and has an exceptional character due to the Presidential Decree 26/3/27 GG 1 issue 438 in conjunction with the decision of the then Prefecture of Attica (Trade Service) with No. Prot. 1927/5-n8-55.
The Sunday River Bazaar will only be held in and around the River Square and so should be explicitly stated in Article 4 of the by-law to be voted on.
Without the consent of the parties mentioned, it will be subject to cancellation/revocation through the courts.
In direct relevance to the bazaar, we demand and require the promotion of the following issues:
1.Immediate preparation of a study with an architectural competition for the redevelopment of Potamos Square and surrounding streets.
2.Immediate opening of a road to connect the parking lot with the ring road We request in writing what you informed us orally about the progress of the project during our meeting in your office.
3.Immediate seasonal pedestrianisation of the main road with parking spaces.
4.Economic and technical support of the Community of Potamos-Agias Pelagia with all financial instruments.
The Board of the Cultural Association
