According to a statement of Parents and Guardians Association of the Kythera High School, on Monday 23 September 2024, at 8:00 a.m., will be held Protest at the entrance of Kythera General High School. The Association invites all parents, students and residents of the island to participate dynamically in the mobilization, with the central slogan: «NO TO THE MERGER OF DEPARTMENTS».
This mobilization is a response to the latest developments concerning the merger of the Lyceum sections, which causes concern and reactions from parents and students. According to the Association, the merging of departments will have a serious impact on the quality of education and will increase the pressure on students and teachers, creating difficulties in teaching and learning pathways.
With the message «WE'LL ALL BE THERE!», the Association asks for the mass presence and support of the local community in order to put pressure on the Ministry of Education and the competent authorities. It closes the statement with a call: “HELP US BE HEARD! COME WITH US!”, calling for the voice of students and parents to be strengthened to protect the quality of education in Kythera.
The Protest is expected to be well attended, as many residents of the island are expressing their dissatisfaction with what is happening in the schools in recent days.
